| Dear Lynne,
This is a thank you note for the time and effort you and
your staff, particularly Vicki Claymon and Carrie Confer Kebelbeck, have
put forward for our autistic grandson over the past two years.
Now almost 4, our grandson has made what is to us amazing
progress in the areas of communication. You might remember those first
tenuous sessions. Every parent or caregiver is nervous, looking for results
that justify going forward. And for our grandson those were indeed small
steps. His main problem was moderate to severe speech production. Combined
with receptive and expressive language delays our grandson’s speech
intelligibility was very limited with both motor planning and articulation
difficulties.
The first year was dramatic. It seemed every week brought
more clarity. It ended with all of us realizing his positive response
to therapy could lead to great accomplishments. And, in the second year
that happened. We now have a young 4 year old who, in all probability,
will be mainstreamed (or is ‘inclusion’ the politically correct
term?) at Kindergarten! And he’s autistic! His language is clearly
understandable. He speaks in whatever length sentence is required. He
verbally problem solves. What more can be asked for?
Your therapists have produced results far above expectations,
almost in the dream area! Of course there is fine-tuning needed. Like
most autistics, he still struggles with how people feel. He pronunciation
is not always clearly understood. But 80% of the time it is. And he is
only 4.
We feel results like this deserve communication. Please
accept our thanks for your time and effort and please, please pass these
words on to Carrie and Vicki.
Best wishes for continued success.
Bob and Sandie
