Lynne Alba is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. She previously graduated from California State University, Long Beach with her Bachelorís and Masterís degrees in Communication Disorders. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, an Honor Society. She completed three clinical rotations prior to graduation. During these internships, Lynne worked as an intern in a hospital, a student teacher in a classroom with children with severe speech and language disorders and an itinerant speech therapist in the public school system.

Lynne is a senior Speech and Language Pathologist with over 20 years experience working with both the pediatric and adult populations. She founded Lynne Alba Speech Therapy, Professional Corporation in 1991 while working at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center (RLAMC), a nationally acclaimed rehabilitation facility.

She worked at RLAMC for six-and-a-half years. During the last four years, she supervised a number of adult speech/language services, including Brain Injury, Stroke, Neurogenic Disorders and Geriatrics.

Prior to her work at RLAMC, she was employed at the well-known Switzer Center (a private school and clinic for children and adolescents with learning and behavioral difficulties) where, for the last two-and-a-half years of her tenure, she was the Clinical Coordinator of the Speech and Language Department.

She has worked with both adults and children presenting with a wide variety of difficulties such as Articulation and Language Impairments, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Disability, ADHD, Auditory and Language Processing Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Verbal Dyspraxia, Dysarthria, Stroke, and Brain Injury.

Lynne has been trained in PROMPT, an innovative therapy technique used to help patients form sounds and words through direct and indirect manipulation of the speech structures (e.g., lips, tongue, jaw). It involves using multiple cues (e.g., auditory, visual, touch and movement) to give feedback to help develop clear and well-timed speech. She has also received training in other programs, such as Links to Language, It Takes Two To Talkģ Ė The Hanen Programģ for Parents, and the Nancibell Visualizing and Verbalizingģ for Language Comprehension and Thinking (V/Vģ) Program. These three programs focus on improving language skills in those with language impairments. The Hanen Program directs its methods toward educating and training parents in techniques and strategies to facilitate their childís communication and language development in everyday situations.

Lynne has earned a reputation for her keen diagnostic skills and her ability to develop targeted programs that have led to a high treatment success rate. She believes in utilizing a patientís strengths to improve their weaker areas, and integrates a variety of activities, strategies and techniques into therapy, based on each patientís individual profile. She also believes in the value of teamwork. She likes to collaborate with a patientís other team members, as appropriate, and enjoys educating and training family members and caregivers in skills and techniques to help optimize their childís/family memberís success in communicating within the home, school and community.
