Loretta

Clinical Biography
Loretta A. Schamberger graduated from Wichita State University in Wichita,
Kansas with a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She
received her Bachelors of Science from Kansas State University with a
degree in Family Studies and Human Relations. During her studies, she
was a member of the Golden Key National Honors Society and the National
Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association. Prior to graduation,
she completed two internships at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas
City, Missouri and at Maize Pray-Woodman Elementary School. While attending
graduate school, she was employed at Rainbows United, a developmental/pediatric
facility for infants and toddlers, as a speech-language assistant. Loretta
participated as a team player and provided rehabilitation, infant feeding
and use of assistive and augmentative devices for these children.
Loretta has over 6 years of clinical experience with both
children and adults. Most of her experience has been in the public school
setting with children, ages 3-14. During this period, she provided assessments
and treatment for children in regular education, special day classes,
and independent living skills classes. In addition, she has evaluated,
diagnosed and provided treatment for children in different private, clinical
settings and in-home therapy sessions. Her therapy emphasis has been in
the areas of language and speech development, social-pragmatic skills,
fluency and voice in both individual and group treatment sessions. Over
the past two preceding summers, Loretta has been actively involved with
assessments for the Preschool Support Services in Los Angeles. Loretta
has extensive experience with many different children with an array of
disabilities and disorders. Many of the children she has provided treatment
for have the diagnosis of autism and/or Asperger Syndrome.
Prior to arriving at Children’s Speech Care Center,
Loretta was employed with Redondo Beach Unified School District and Holding
Hands, a child-based, developmental clinic. She worked with preschool
and school-age children in both these settings.
Loretta is a dynamic, team-oriented clinician. She is enthusiastic
about her therapy, and forms bonds easily with children and their families.
She is also an avid pursuer of continuing education and keeps current
on various therapy practices. Her therapy is creative and she individualizes
her materials and approach to suit the needs of each of her patients.
