Lara Miller was born and raised in Southern California. In 2004, she attended San Francisco State University (SFSU) where she completed both her Bachelorís and Masterís degrees in Communicative Disorders. During her studies, Lara served on committees for both the National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association and the Alpha Phi Fraternity for a number of years.

Lara received her Masterís Degree in 2011 and relocated to Southern California to begin her career. Her primary specialty has been with preschool and school-age children with language and articulation delays and disorders.

In graduate school, she obtained clinical experience in two internships as well as several clinical practicum rotations at the SFSU clinic. The first internship was in the Jefferson School District in San Bruno, California where she gained experience in a public school district working with students with a variety of needs in the areas of receptive and expressive language, articulation, social pragmatics, speech fluency, and learning disabilities. The second internship was at Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center in Vallejo, California where Lara worked with adults who were recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other medical conditions that required speech and language rehabilitation, as well as swallowing therapy. Throughout these experiences, it was clear to Lara that she had chosen the right field of work as she gained so much satisfaction from working closely with individuals and their families in order to improve communication and overall quality of life.

Lara is an enthusiastic new team member at Childrenís Speech Care Center. Currently, in addition to being part time at our clinic, Lara works in the public school setting in Los Angeles. She sees children from preschool to high school age who benefit from services to address a variety of speech and language delays and disorders. Lara strives to support children in the school environment so they can access their education and enhance communication opportunities with their peers. She is very excited to be a part of our team because she is so focused on collaboration and family involvement. She enjoys including parents in the learning process in order to maximize their childís success.
