Cheyanne Chen-Jones earned her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas. Cheyanne has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to evaluate and treat in a variety of settings throughout her speech-language and dysphagia training. As a graduate clinician, she enjoyed her clinical rotations in the UT Southwestern-St Paulís acute care hospital and Zale Lipshy outpatient hospital, an elementary school in the Richardson School District, the Baylor Institute of Rehab, and a small group intervention program STEPS (Supportive Treatment of Eating in Preschoolers) as well as the Preverbal Class for Early Intervention at the Callier Center, Dallas TX. Before joining the Childrenís Speech Care Center full-time, Cheyanne worked in medical facilities and home health with clients ages 2-100 (yes, her oldest client was 100) with autism, apraxia, feeding difficulties, speech-language disorders, aphasia and neurogenic impairments including Parkinsonís, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), dementia, stroke and swallowing difficulties. Currently, she works with a variety of children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of issues including autism, Asperger syndrome, ADHD/ADD, developmental disability, aphasia, receptive and expressive language disorders (including language and auditory processing disorders), articulation and phonology disorders, apraxia, and stuttering. She is also familiar with assistive devices (AAC). Cheyanne is of the opinion that family is integral to the therapy process. She desires to integrate personal and family interests into therapy goals and aims to make every opportunity count for learning.

Prior to deciding to become a SLP, Cheyanne spent 7 years as an educator to culturally diverse student populations teaching English as a First Language and English as a Second Language as well as Business and Life skills. Somewhere in between, she dabbled in ABA therapy and shadow teaching for children ages 3-7 with autism.

Cheyanne also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the Nanyang Technological University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Sociology from the National University of Singapore. She is bilingual in Mandarin Chinese and English.

She loves talking about cultures and places in the world. She spends all her money on travelling and has been very blessed to have called a few places home Ė Singapore, China and now the US. She loves making food and especially experimenting with different cuisines of the world. She was most recently in a Balinese cooking class. She also adores animals, but her first love is her poodle mutt.
